USA vs. China Ways (2)

Why “the Way It Is”?

Recently I came across a self-media clip in Youtube.com. The host is a Canadian gentleman who claims he lived in China in the past 10 years. In this clip, he tries to make some comments on current issues with the Canada -China relationship.

He mentions the Chinese telecom giant Huawei at the start of the clip, like this: “Huawei is a private firm in China”. Upon hearing this, I switched channel right away. Why? Guess I don’t care this person’s position is pro Canada or China, but this statement of “Huawei is a private firm in China” is already basically faulty and misleading.

This proves the host knows little about the real China. Huawei is by no means a “private firm” even using the criteria in China, although it claims it’s privately owned. Even ordinary Chinese from the streets know what Huawei is made from. If a person who wants to talk about China in Youtube.com can’t even get the basic right, what can we expect from his subsequent analysis and judgement concerned?

This also shows in order to know well about China, one needs to go beyond the surface and learn how to wisely hit the real spots. Regular in-country living experiences or academic researches and paperwork, although having their values, unfortunately often miss the targets.
